Gravity Adventure Festival
The Gravity Adventure Festival, now in its 8th year, will be held in the spectacular surroundings of the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve near Kleinmond.Kleinmond is a small coastal town in the Overberg region of the Western Cape province, South Africa. It is situated inside a UNESCO-declared Biosphere about 90 km east of Cape Town between Betty's Bay and Hermanus.
From June to November, Southern Right Whales can be seen from the coastline, where they come to mate and calf.
Of special interest are the wild horses, roaming free in the marshlands at the Bot River lagoon area, next to Rooisands Nature Reserve. They are believed to be South Africa's only herd of wild horses in a wetland habitat. The Festival consists of exciting events such as: Climbing Events, Mile River Swim,Trail Run, Adventure Race,MTB Race, Downriver Kayak Race, K1 Sprint, Downriver Croc Race.
All these events are centered around the main road bridge on the Palmiet River, where the major rapids and estuary are in full view, which make for great view to the various events. There will also be a wall climbing, food and drink stalls . We now have 8 different disciplines open for entry and this makes the Gravity Adventure Festival the most diverse Adventure Festival in South Africa!
The two new events are the Mile River Swim and the Estuary Sprint. The Estuary Sprint will be held on the Sunday so it does not clash with the Saturday K2 race in Swellendam.
